Hi team,
I write for The Meliorist, which is the University of Lethbridge's independent student newspaper. Here's a story I filed this week about the debacle surrounding the November presidential elections and what's happening in regards to the runoff election.

Also, here's an update from Metro News on reports that Jude Celestin (handpicked successor of current president Rene Preval) will be withdrawing from the runoff.

Looking forward to the trip - just over a week away!

One Month to Go
In exactly one month, on February 7, 2011, a team of 24 will leave for Haiti, on an 11 day trip, to work with and minister to the Haitian people. There are 22 team members from Saskatchewan, mostly from the Moose Jaw area; one from California and one from Halifax, NS.
Our hope is to begin construction of the first orphan home in the Children's Village, which will be located on property purchased by Haiti Arise, in Grand Goave. http://www.haitiarise.org/ . For those who will not be doing construction, they may work with the children in the elementary school which is on the campus, or in the community, or work on whatever projects are needing to be done. We are planning for one or two rice distributions and some community clean-up and evangelism.
There is alot to be done in the next 4 weeks as the countdown begins...alot of packing and most importantly, alot of prayer, as we prepare for the trip.
We are glad that you found our blog and hope that you will follow our adventure. Our team is thankful for those who have supported us and will support us in many different ways, in the days and weeks to come.
More to follow in the coming weeks......
